WHAT IS THE UIA?
The Utilities Intermediaries Association is a Trade Association and is registered with the Trade Associations Forum, for those Third Party Intermediaries facilitating energy purchasing contracts between supplier and consumer.
WHAT IS A TPI?
A Tpi is typically a Consultant, Broker or Agent facilitating energy purchasing contracts between the supplier and consumer.
WHO CONTROLS THE UIA?
Day-to-day operations and administration is carried out by the Board of Directors but ultimate control is through the members voting rights at general meetings.
WHO TAKES THE PROFIT FROM THE UIA?
The UIA is a company limited by guarantee and not for profit. As such, any monies accumulated after disbursements must be invested back into the organisation for the benefit of its members.
WHO SUPPORTS THE UIA?
All the major leading suppliers have pledged their support for the UIA. energywatch and Ofgem support the initiative of the Trade Association the Regulator having made the following statement.
WHO CAN JOIN THE UIA?
Any organisation that meets the requirements as laid down in the Articles and Memorandum of Association and replicated on the application forms all to be found on this website.
WHAT IS THE BOAT MARK?
The Boat Mark is the Approval Logo licensed to the UIA which denotes an organisation that has signed up to the Code of Practice to become a Full Member. Any Full member undertakes to provide the consumer with a high standard of service delivered with competence and integrity, affording the consumer an avenue of redress if this proves not to be the case.
